About Me

I was born in Ottawa,Canada, on June 23rd 1980 at the Riverside hospital. I first took up badminton at the age of 10 at the R.A Centre. I rose quickly in the Junior Rankings by being the Under 14 Single’s Provincial Champion and winning the provincial title almost every year after that (except my first year Under 19). I then went on to win the Under 16 Single’s National Championships in 1996 as well as taking the Under 19 Singles National Championships in 1999.

At the age of 19 I decided to play full time and became the number one ranked player in the country by the age of 21. I reaped the rewards of my hard work by making the national team and going to the world championships in Spain in 2001. I was also selected to go to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 where I placed in the top 16 in singles and doulbes.

I then won my first Senior National Championships Title in 2004 in Calgary. As fortune should have it I tore my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) 1 month after my victory in Calgary during an exhibition match at the Revolution Cup. I underwent reconstructive surgery for me knee in the summer of 2004.

After a year and a half of pain and hard work I finally regained my level in 2006. In the fall of 2006 I decided to move to Denmark and train at the International Badminton Academy. The decision payed off, in 2007 I became the men’s singles Pan American Champion.

I am currently still living and training in Copenhagen,Denmark, and look forward to many more successful tournaments!!

Favorite Quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don’t feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do. Its not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsiously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
