I would like to make a quick annoucement to all my stephantheman readers that I will be on television on the 18th of November at 22.30 (eastern standard time). I will be on a station called TV5 which is a french television station and the show is called “Plus loin + sport”. The episode will be lasting 30m and will be about my badminton life here in Copenhagen,Denmark.
So for those of you who do not speak or understand french you have exactly one week to learn:) For those of you who cannot learn the language in time, there is quite a bit of english in it for you to know what’s going on.

Glamour in Copenhagen at Hotel D’Angleterre

This weekend I thought I would treat myself and impress my mother by staying at our favorite Copenhagen Hotel….Hotel D’Angleterre. My parents lived in Copenhagen for 5 years before I was born and I was told that they walked by that hotel everyday and thought it was spectacular. So when my mother told me she was coming into town, I thought that I could get some good brownie points by putting her up in style. Our room was on the first floor with a balcony. The balcony was the length of the room in the centre of the Hotel with a coffee table and two chairs. Its beautiful view was looking over the famous Kongens Nytorv (Kings Square). We then spent a few hours relaxing in spa before heading out for dinner. The next morning we enjoyed an incredible breakfast buffet filled with all sorts of food,juices,smoothies and even champagne.

All in all it was a weekend to remember for both my mother and myself. Even you ever have the chance to walk inside or stay in the hotel I HIGHLY recomend it.

U.S Open 2009 Semi Final Match Correction

I made a slight mistake with posting my match. All 3 parts of my video was the same and I appologize for those who tried to watch. I have now corrected my mistake and have put the missing segments of my match…unfortunatly it still stops short in the second set because my camera’s battery life runs out.

Memories of Indonesia Open 2009

I was able to take a little bit of footage at the Indonesian Open Super Series 2009 and wanted to share it with everyone. I mentioned before that the atmosphere in the hall is crazy and how everybody goes nuts for badminton…especialy indonesian badminton players:) I filmed the last little bit of the match between Sony Dwi Kuncoro (Indonesia) and Chan Yan Kit (Hong Kong) in the quarter finals. You will notice how everyone LOVES it when Sony scores a point and how they are “Boo-ing” Chan everytime he hits the shuttle and “Ya-ing” everytime Sony hits the shuttle.
I also filmed one of the fans who got REALLY into it and got all dressed up for the occasion. He was creating the Wave for all the fans in the stadium and was doing a very good job. I thought I would also film him in action since he was quite entertaining.

Birthday at Europa Park!

IF any of you out there ever wonders what a professional badminton player does on his spare time….well here is a video to show you It was my birthday yesterday and my friend Andrew Dabeka and his girlfriend took me to Europa Park in Germany. We started in Zurich,Switzerland,and drove an hour and a half to get to this incredible theme park.
The video that you are about to watch is Andrew and Me on a ride called The Mir in the Russian Quarter of the park. It was pretty scary considering we were facing the back of the rollercoaster and could never see what was coming up next! I sometimes felt that my eyes were going to jump out of my sockets!
There is another video of us on a different rollercoaster of legendary proportions. But that one will have to surface in good time.

CTV Ottawa News Interview

Prior to my tournament in montreal for the Mels Atwater Canadian International 2009 I was back home in Ottawa. During that time I and Andrew Dabeka were able to be interviewed by Terry Marcotte from CTV news about our badminton. Just last night did it pass and all of Ottawa rejoiced to finaly see badminton on TV:)

Off to Canada!!

Hello hello,
So today is my last day in Copenhagen to prepare for my flight back home to Ottawa,Canada. I always love going home and visiting my family and friends. I miss being in my city very much and one day hope to go back..because one thing is for sure, home will aways be home:) However I going back to Canada for a purpose..I will be playing in the Canadian International being held in Montreal. This means I get to spend 5 or 6 days in Ottawa and then drive to Montreal for the competition.

I look forward to being in O town and I also look forward to performing well in Montreal. I will be updating my training and competion while in Canada.
See you there!!
